Week 1

I am a Year 7 & 8 teacher based in Auckland, New Zealand, and use this space to present a collection of my reflective journals on my practise and to demonstrate my ability to critically reflect on my practise and be informed by relevant resources such as government reports, school report and research literature.

As a teacher, I am into my fourth year of being in a one to one device classroom.  I am the lead teacher of e-learning in my school.  My school belongs to a cluster of schools called the Manaiakalani Cluster.
Our pedagogy ‘Learn, Create, Share’ puts our young people at the very centre of their learning.  This pedagogy drives toward ubiquitous learning, strong learner agency and connectedness to grow knowledge.
I collaborate with my students and support them with the skills and capability to improve their learning outcomes.  I am particularly interested in flipped classroom and how it will support the priority learners in my school.
Young people today have lots of experience … interacting with new technologies, but a lot less so of creating [or] expressing themselves with
new technologies. It's almost as if they can read but not write.” (Mitch Resnick)
